People VS Traffic

I hate the word “traffic.” Literally, hate it. It’s a soulless and dumb expression that all those “SEO-experts” use:

“How are we gonna drive traffic to our website?”

“How much traffic are we getting from our Facebook Page?”

“If I post this link on twitter, I’ll get a good amount of traffic.”

We live in a different time know. It’s not about getting random people interrupted with your bullshit marketing in order to make them visit your meaningless website. It is about creating awesome content, finding people who are interested and connecting with them.

One person interested in what you say is hundreds times better that a thousand people who don’t care. Moreover, getting a thousand people to visit you is not hard at all, but making one stay is a challenge.

When you start talking and thinking about people as traffic, you lose. You already assume in your head that their visit is more important than they are themselves. So please, don’t.
